Homesitters Ramps Up Recruitment Ahead of Busy Christmas Season

Brits are planning their festive getaways earlier than ever, sparking a surge in demand for home and pet sitters this Christmas. Homesitters Ltd, the UK’s leading home and pet sitting company, has reported a sharp rise in bookings and is urgently recruiting more homesitters to meet demand.
Aviva research* finds that 19% of Brits are booking or researching their next holiday 4-5 months in advance, with over a quarter (26%) planning 2-3 months ahead. With Christmas holiday plans already underway, ensuring beloved pets are cared for and homes are secure while they’re away now top of the Christmas planning list.
Ben Irvine, Managing Director of Homesitters Ltd, comments: “Christmas is one of our busiest times of the year, but what’s striking this year is just how early people are booking. We started to get bookings as early as May 2024. Families want reassurance their pets will be cared for in their own home and that their house is secure while they are away.”
Homesitters play a dual role for clients by offering companionship and care for pets in their familiar surroundings but also providing a visible deterrent to burglars during a period when home security concerns are at their highest.
Paula and Gavin Rose have been home sitting for thirteen years and really enjoy doing assignments over Christmas and New Year. Paula says “We have our family Christmas a few days before we leave for our homesitting adventure and then really enjoy spending Christmas away from home as it is a lovely break and the opportunity to spend time with pets.
Gavin adds: “We’ve enjoyed Christmas assignments in different towns and homes. New Year is also a great time to home and pet sit, and we always make sure we, and the pets get plenty of exercise over the festive period! We can also make some savings on our own electricity costs as we don’t have to have the heating on for as many hours.”
Ben adds: “We’re looking for responsible, animal-loving people who want to do something rewarding and different. Our homesitters often say it feels like ‘holidays with responsibilities’ – they get the joy of pets and a cosy home-from-home, while giving families complete peace of mind at Christmas.”
Homesitters Ltd are different to many other pet sitting agencies in that all their homesitters are employed by them, are fully vetted and insured, plus they provide 24/7 back up support for homesitters on assignment. Homesitters also meet clients and their pets beforehand to be briefed on the home and the pets’ routine to ensure the assignment goes smoothly.
